While going around left of the entrance I saw some guys in power armor fighting something (though at the time I thought they were fighting eachother) and thinking it was other people (like other players) because they were wearing the armor on the cover so I thought that meant they were other players I attacked them and was quickly killed. Then I did a few circles around megaton because I didn’t know what it was. That happened a few times before I gave up and let it be. When I exited the vault I got killed by the eye bot because I thought it was an enemy and shot at it.
I only got it because everyone at school was talking about it, but looking back I think they were all playing shelter. And now I think I'm gonna go play it again. After that, I took off running and finished the main questline that weekend. My friend, who had loaned me the game and gotten me into fallout originally (Thanks, Sam!), had to come over and explain to me what the quest system was and how to progress and level up. This, of course, did nothing as it one shotted me and I went flying backwards, limp. I panicked and tried to hit it with a baseball bat. A deathclaw came lumbering up to me, and I had no fucking idea what I was looking at. I eventually made it to Old Olney, at night. Mostly north for some reason? I fought through a lot of mutants and raiders, and to this day I don't know how I survived that early. I didn't know what quest markers were, let alone quests. Anyways, I left the vault and had no idea where to go. I was amazed at the vault section alone, which directly contrasts with how I feel about it now, having played it probably hundreds of times.
